SAINT GEORGE, UT JANUARY 25, 2011 ECT Offroad Southwest Crawlfest presented by Poison Spyder had nearly 300 vehicles on the Sand Hollow OHV Recreation Trails participating in a clean-up and raffle for Land-Use. “We had another great turn out this year,” explained Steve Crabtree, Event Chairman. “It was a perfect weekend for wheeling and it was fun to have everyone here enjoying the trails and helping support keeping the land open so we can continue to have events like these.”
The event that took place January 14-16 featured a raffle with over $45,000 worth of sponsor donated products. Proceeds from the event have gone directly into supporting land use organizations including Blue Ribbon Coalition, United Four Wheel Drive Association, Utah 4 Wheel Drive Association, and Utah Shared Access Alliance who all
had representatives on site to educate. Companies like ECT Offroad, Nitro Gear and Auburn Gear donated a front and rear axle set valued over $6,500. “I couldn’t believe it! I was so excited, I couldn’t even say anything!” exclaimed grand prize winner Steve from Arizona. Jason Minnoch from ECT Offroad added, “I am stoked that someone that wanted and can use the axles won, it makes the whole weekend even better!” Other large prizes included a YJ Armor package valued over $2000 compliments of Poison Spyder, a complete suspension kit from Tough Country, multiple bolt on accessories from PipeMaster Tools, Olympic4x4, iDeal Offroad, Rad Motorsports and thousands of dollars in Gift Certificates from others.
“I have never wheeled here before and it was a lot like Moab, but a lot different at the
same time, some very challenging obstacles,” commented Larry McRae from Poison Spyder. There were thirteen fully supported and trail-led outings from graded sight seeing trails, to the most extreme Utah Red Rock trails for drivers to choose any ability and difficulty ratings. “I thought one of the best features was there was a bypass for almost every obstacle allowing anyone to join,” said Mary Levenhagen from T&T Customs. Sand Hollow is named after their amazing red sand. “Last year was my first time in the sand, and this year I was really excited to come back and play some more,” said Rob Graft from Nemesis Industries.
The event included BBQ lunches by TexaSmoke Barbeque, a Spaghetti Dinner Sponsored by TNT Customs, and an amazing dinner on Saturday night followed by Charlene Bower interviewing sponsors and Del Albright from the Blue Ribbon Coalition sharing some words of wisdom for life and conservation of trails.
The big announcement on Saturday night was the addition of two Crawlfest’s this year: BFE Crawlfest in Moab, Utah in June, and a third Crawlfest in Farmington, NM. Dates will be announced soon, please contact Steve Crabtree if you are interested in participating.

It Pays To Race on Radflo Shocks at KOH Radflo Suspension Technology Provides King of the Hammers Drivers with Compelling Reasons to Rely on Radflo Shocks at 2011 Event Fountain Valley, CA – January 2011:
Radflo Suspension Technology has announced it will return to King of the Hammers for 2011 with a new racer support program and some very compelling reasons for drivers to race on Radflo shocks. Recognized by off-road enthusiasts as the most difficult one-day race on the planet, KOH attracts drivers from around the world to Johnson Valley OHV area in Southern California where they will compete in the most punishing terrain imaginable.
Last year, the suspension damping specialists at Radflo attended KOH for the first time and their success was nothing less than remarkable. At the end of the 135-mile test of endurance, vehicles outfitted exclusively with Radflo shocks crossed the finish line in first, third and fifth place. Emphasizing the effectiveness of Radflo dampers in this unforgiving terrain, the Radflo equipped vehicles continued their streak of domination throughout the Ultra4 season and ultimately earned the 2010 series championship. For the 2011 event, Radflo has expanded its racer support program to ensure their customers are prepared to defend the crown. A team of four Radflo technicians will be available for the entire week to provide free shock tuning services to Radflo-equipped vehicles. Additionally, Radflo is offering its customers some valuable incentives for leading the pack across the finish line. The second through tenth place finishers will receive a voucher worth $500 of Radflo products or services. And the driver who takes the checkered flag will be awarded a complete Radflo shock package, consisting of coil-overs, bypass shocks and bump stops at a combined value of $5,360 USD. When asked to comment on the fast approaching event, Radflo owner Glenn Classen had this to say. "The fact that Radflo is a small company works to our advantage at KOH. We are able to work very closely with our customers and respond to their individual needs with speed and precision unmatched by our competitors. We believe last year's results are a testament to our business philosophy, and we expect a similar demonstration from our customers this year." Now it will be in stock or week at most out

RENO, NV DECEMBER 8, 2010 – After a very successful 3rd place ironman finish in the Baja 1000, Roger Norman has committed to racing in the SNORE Rage at the River in Laughlin, NV this weekend December 11-12, 2010. “I am really excited to race the two day format. I always enjoy going to Laughlin, and racing makes it even better,” said Roger Norman. Roger Norman’s Crystal Bay Casino #8 Trophy Truck received a quick prep job last week before deciding to take on another 140 miles. “We had a few challenges during the Baja 1000 that we have fixed and instead of testing them on an off day, we have decided to put the truck though a real race scenario. Not really sure if the truck will last the entire race,” chuckles Norman, “It did just complete the hardest desert race ever.” Norman and the team will be in Laughlin starting on Friday for qualifying. The Unlimited Truck class will be running as part of Heat Four that starts at 12pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Drivers will have 1 hour 30 minutes to complete the 14 mile course, 5 times. “One of the guys on the team recommended this race, and with it being close to home and the need to test out the repairs, we decided to come and race!” commented Norman. “This looks like it will be the last race of the 2010 year, so that puts 15 total races down in the books for Norman Motorsports. A very successful and fun year to say the least!” For More information on the SNORE Rage at the River: http://www.snoreracing.net/rage-at-the-river.html 2010 Baja 1000 Vimeo Video Link: http://vimeo.com/17229585 Roger Norman Website: www.RogerNormanRacing.com Norman Motorsports Partners: Crystal Bay Casino, BFGoodrich, KMC, Vision X, K&N Filters, Mastercraft, Fire ETC, NEO, CMI, Big Ass Fans, Safety Klean, Cruz Roja, Baja Fools, AutoVac, Fluidyne, Rod End Supply, High Angle Drivelines, Trail Glow, Galley at the Marina Photos and Video Credit: Alton Parker

Radflo Shocks Dominate Rocks Vehicles Equipped With Radflo Suspension Sweep 2010 Ultra4 Championships Fountain Valley, CA – November 2010: The suspension damping specialists at Radflo Suspension Technology have good reason to celebrate as the 2010 Ultra4 Series comes to an end. This was the first year that Radflo officially tossed their hat into the rock racing ring. The company has already earned worldwide recognition among off-road racing teams by producing one of the most successful lines of professional shock absorbers for motorsport applications. But this year's accomplishments may just be the most persuasive demonstration of Radflo's capabilities yet. The season began in Johnson Valley, CA at the most notorious and challenging one-day off-road race on the planet, King of the Hammers. It was at this event that Radflo first laid its reputation on the line in front of the world's top rock racing teams. The results could not have been more encouraging. At the completion of the 135 mile torture test, only 43 of the 100 vehicles competing managed to reach the finish line. Impressively enough, eight of the vehicles that finished the race were equipped with Radflo shocks. However, the proudest moment for Radflo occurred when the first five vehicles crossed the finish line. Loren Healy completed the course in first place to capture the overall race win. Moments later, Derek West crossed the line in third place. Erik Miller finished the race shortly after in fifth place. All three drivers were running Radflo shocks exclusively, and as it would turn out, their success in the 2010 Ultra4 Series was just beginning. King of the Hammers marked the first race of two separate Ultra4 Series championships for 2010. The first series, Grand Slam of Off-Road, required the driver to conquer multiple driving disciplines, including endurance racing, short course competition and highly technical rock crawling. Loren Healy continued to dominate the series by capturing another overall win at the Best in the Desert Silver State 300, followed by a very respectable fourth place finish at the Lands End Hill Climb in Colorado. The clear points leader at the end of the season, Loren received the title of 2010 Grand Slam of Off-Road Champion. The second part of the series, known as the International Endurance Championship, is based on the same format as KOH. Competing drivers had to prove their merit on seemingly impossible rock obstacles while demonstrating equal proficiency in flat-out desert racing conditions. The next IEC race was the Rausch Creek Qualifier where Derek West captured the overall win followed closely by Erik Miller in second place. Loren Healy crossed the finish line in fourth position. The SMORR No Coast Qualifier was the final race in the series. A strong second place finish by Erik Miller earned him the series points advantage along with the title of 2010 International Endurance Champion. Derek West and Loren Healy finished the race in sixth and ninth places respectively. At the conclusion of the 2010 Ultra4 Season, Radflo Suspension Technology was ecstatic to learn that both championships had been clinched by vehicles equipped exclusively with their shocks. Company owner Glenn Classen had the following to say, "This season has been truly amazing! I could not have asked for a better group of drivers to put our dampers to the test." When asked about Radflo’s plans for the following season, Classen responded "We look forward to working with the same drivers in 2011. You can also expect to see a couple more familiar names make the switch to Radflo shocks. With our championship proven suspension products, highly talented driving force, and a little luck, we hope to repeat our streak of success next year."
Our Local Sprint Boat Race Guys! They are now in the process of building a local boat race track!
Dan Morrison, who is the inspiration behind the project and championship boat driver, has had an interesting journey in getting all the needed permits and approval for construction of the track. His hard work and inspiration is sure to pay off with the revenue that the track can bring to the community of Port Angeles, and is heavily supported by local community members and business owners.
Construction began a couple weeks ago using volunteers from the local community. With the involvement of volunteers from the community the new event location is sure to be a success. Area residents look forward to having this sort of event here in Port Angeles, Washington as local resident explains, "This town could sure use another reason to come here and see the beauty of the place and have an exciting activity to go to. This is something that the locals of all ages would enjoy and a great family activity." ECT Offroad will be continuing coverage of the track progress and plans to take part in the construction of the rock crawl course that is planned to follow when the boat track is complete.
Parade through Downtown, Dezert People 8 Movie Premier
RENO,NV SEPTEMBER 8, 2010: The VORRA Hawthorne 225 desert race Labor Day Weekend was a great success. There were over 40 entries with more than half finishing in a perfectly executed desert race. The weekend also included a parade of off road desert cars through downtown Hawthorne, and the movie premier of Dezert People 8 at the El Capitan Lodge and Casino. The Hawthorne 225 is the fourth desert race in the 2010, eight race VORRA series that includes an additional four short course races.
Wes Harbor, VORRA Director, took the opportunity at the mandatory drivers meeting to reinforce BLM’s commitment to help promoters be successful while enforcing new safety procedures. There was not one incident over the course of the whole weekend.
“The Hawthorne 225 track starts and finishes with some gnarly sections featuring deep sand, rough rocky terrain and some very deep silt beds, but even so we had a great finishing rate. At mid lap, racers are rewarded with the Hawthorne roller coaster that is just a blast,” said Wes Harbor, VORRA Director.
The course was a 55-mile loop that drivers had to complete 4 times to finish within the allotted 9 hours.
The winner of the race was Class One driver Sam Berri in 4 hours 18 minutes, completing each 55-mile lap like clockwork. Fast lap for the day was at 1 hour, 2 minutes and 8 seconds that went to Tom Wood traveling from Arizona to his first VORRA race. Second in Class One, and third overall, was Mike Viola. JJ Schnarr in the Punisher Class One car owned by Mike Decker came in third.
Sam Cothrun, in the SamCo Group T truck, had an amazing day placing first in class and second overall only 28 minutes behind Berri. Ben Phillips finished second and Marty Morehead not far behind in third.
Finishing eighth overall was Sportsman driver Terry Shelton who drove to his third class win in as many races. Gary Steele finished second and David Ackles finished third. 60 year old Susan Austin completed her first desert race ever in 4th place.

Red Team Racing had their fair share of problems on lap 2 snapping an a-arm and nearly rolling the car, but they finished 1st in Class 10 while also getting the award for the longest lap time. Alex Hall took second and Greg Kudrna placed third.
In the UTV Class, Jon Crowley and Dennis Jean had a good battle going all day, with Jon Crowley taking the win in his Teryx. Also finishing first was Jay Schroeder in Class 9 and Gary Herrod in Class 11.
The season points battle continues to be close, with two short course races remaining after the Hawthorne 225. Mike Koenig fell to second overall but holds onto first place in Group T points. Class 1 driver Sam Berri finally regained the overall points lead with this first place finish. Red Team Racing moved into third overall and into first place in their class.
VORRA is in its 35th year of producing high quality yet affordable racing while also creating fun events around the race. The desert portion of the VORRA series is now complete with two more short course races at Prairie City OHV area in October which finishes the entire 8 race series.

The work continues to establish a permanent competition rock crawl course in Washington. There are several local volunteers and business owners who are helping the project manager and property owner's Dan Morrison and the Morrison Group push the motor sports area to become a reality. Dan Morrison is a sprint boat racer who is passionate about his sport and wants to have a track available for local boat racers and make his park a stop for national events. His excitement in building this park has now come to include a world championship rock crawl venue. Two extreme motor sports venues in one location will prove to be a destination for race fans nation wide as well as local Washington State Residents. The area will be a family friendly economic boost for local residents and business located on the the Olympic Peninsula.
Mr. Morrison has been a long time resident in Port Angles, Washington and contributed to the community in many ways. He has been operating his private business in the area for 20 plus years and has the support local business owners and residents for this project. The proposed site has been designated near the William R. Fairchild International Port Angeles. The positive economic impact that a venue like this will prove to be a stimulus for the community. The influx of added business to the area during an event weekend could potentially rival the likes of the Sequim Lavender Festival. The many supporters large and small include the 7 Cedars Casino in Sequim, Alderson Auto body, TJC Contracting, Dog House Powder Coating, and ECT Off-Road to name just a few.
Morrison has had the opportunity to address many Port Angeles City officials and The Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce, to define his plans and rally support for this project. He said he is enthusiastic about what sprint boat racing and other competitions on the land could do for Port Angeles. "There is really very little gain in this for us putting on the sport," he said. "The best benefit is for the community and for the town putting it on. The planning and proposed track layouts are currently still under scrutiny by the Army Corps of Engineers, who have been slow to respond to the requests of the Morrison Group. "Dan has always been the type of guy who keeps things moving and doesn't back down. He understands what a great positive economic impact this project will have upon the community."

Help save one of the most hardcore trails in Moab! Check out the link below to sens in your letters now...lets get opened back up before Easter Jeep Safari 2009. http://www.rockymountainextreme.com/showthread.php?t=60284
Help us re-open Coyote Canyon Background: Coyote Canyon is one of Moab’s premier rock crawling trails. With the implementation of the BLM’s new Moab RMP, it is now closed to vehicle traffic. Why it was closed: The new RMP limits motorized travel to “designated” routes. Any route to be considered for travel had to be included on the BLM maps prior to December 30, 2003.
While we were successful in getting several previously un-mapped trails on the list (such as Rusty Nail, Where Eagles Dare, and the Pickle) prior to the deadline, Coyote was not submitted. In fact, to the best of my knowledge, Coyote did not exist prior to this date. It was, however, created in an area that was designated “open” at the time of creation, which technically made it legal. Since the trail was not included, it was never considered, and was therefore closed. How we can get it re-opened: The new RMP allows for the designation of new routes. However, the BLM has not yet created a procedure for this. Moab Friends-For-Wheelin’ wants to gather information, letters of support, etc. now, so we can submit our request for designation as soon as the BLM allows. What we need: I would like everyone that has an interest in seeing this trail re-opened to write a letter of support, and mail or email it to me. I will collect the letters, and then submit them to the BLM along with other documents (photos, GPS data, our “Adopt-A-Trail" proposal, etc.).
At some time in the future, I may also ask for letters to be sent directly to the BLM, but at this point we need to wait for their “procedure” to be put into place. What to say in your letter: Please address your letter to “BLM, Moab Field Office, 82 E. Dogwood Ave, Moab UT 84532.” Some ideas include: Tell them why you think Coyote Canyon should be re-opened. Why is it important to you and your family? Why is it important to Moab’s economy? Why do we need a legal, “hardcore” rock crawling trail? How can a trail such as Coyote Canyon help take pressure off of other existing trails such as Pritchett Canyon or Moab Rim? What would you personally do to help insure that Coyote Canyon and the surrounding area remains clean and free of abuse? Thank you! Please email letters to me at drtsqrl@frontiernet.net. Or, you can mail a hard copy to me (PM me for my address).
I believe that we have a pretty decent shot at this, but we need your help!
