At only 3.1" in length, this adapter assembly is the shortest Muncie 420 adapter in the industry, providing a combined transmission and adapter length of only 13.5". Especially important for short wheelbase YJ & TJ Wrangler Jeeps, the Novak kit provides an excellent transmission conversion combination, reducing U-joint angles and driveline strain.
The adapter housing features 356-T6 aluminum construction and a robust design. The Novak mainshaft provided is of a triple-alloy gear steel, precision splined, hardened and ground for a superior interchange. This kit is compatible with all versions of the popular SM420 transmission. Transmission main shaft replacement (included with the kit) is required. Driveshaft length changes are usually required, but usually always to the advantage of your u-joints and driveshaft angles.
This adapter conveniently has a cast-in mounting pad for a common GM & Jeep rear mount, or a superior Novak #RMU.
The SM420 is at the core of some of the most excellent Jeep conversions available, offering excellent low gearing, short combinations, GM engine compatibility and good parts and service availability.
